A remarkable advertisement from 1801, advertises
this inn for lease. It states that the building is up for lease
beginning on St. Michael's Day (September 29). This information
leads us to the conclusion that this inn had already functioned
as a beer pub in conjunction with a contract with a brewery. A brewer's
year ends on September 29 (St. Michael's Day), meaning that only
at this point could a new (annual) contract for beer delivery be
made. |
