Das Haus Steindlgasse 4 blickt
auf eine jahrhundertelange Tradition zurück. 1406 erstmals urkundlich
erwähnt, findet es schließlich 1683 mit Johann Steindl
seine bis heute währende Bestimmung. Die Gösser Bierklinik
ist damit eines der ältesten Gasthäuser Wiens.
Seit 1988 führt Hieronymus Kos die Gaststätte. Im Sommer 2000 erhielt die Gösser Bierklinik - nach behutsamen Umbauten und Renovierungsarbeiten - ihr ursprüngliches Aussehen und somit ihre ganz besondere Atmosphäre zurück. Die Halle wurde zum Innenhof inszeniert, in dem Sie Ihr Bier quasi im Freien genießen können. Die Sandsteintreppe führt nun ins Restaurant "Steindlzimmer" - der Gaststätte von 1683, aus der die Gäste den Innenhof von zwei Balkonen aus überblicken können.
The building is located at Steindlgasse 4, and has been a traditional
landmark for several centuries. The first time the building was recorded
in a written document was in 1406. In 1683, Johann Steindl gave the
building the purpose it still fulfills to this day, making the Gösser
Bierklinik one of Vienna's oldest inns.
Hieronymus Kos has managed the Bierklinik since 1988. During the summer of 2000, the Gösser Bierklinik was restored back to its original design using only the most careful reconstruction and renovation procedures to recapture its uniquely distinct atmosphere. The enlarged indoor area was opened up to include the covered courtyard where you are able to enjoy your beer almost fully outdoors. There is a sandstone stairway leading up to the restaurant "Steindlzimmer" ("Steindl Room"), a restaurant that dates back to 1683. This area also includes two balconies with a view overlooking the courtyard.
