The building is located at Steindlgasse 4, and has been a traditional landmark for several centuries.
The first time the building was recorded in a written document was in 1406.
In 1683, Johann Steindl gave the building the purpose it still fulfills to this day, making the Gösser Bierklinik one of Vienna's oldest inns.
Hieronymus Kos has managed the Bierklinik since 1988. During the summer of 2000, the Gösser Bierklinik was restored back to its original design using only the most careful reconstruction and renovation procedures to recapture its uniquely distinct atmosphere.
The enlarged indoor area was opened up to include the covered courtyard where you are able to enjoy your beer and delicious food.
There is a sandstone stairway leading up to the restaurant "Steindlzimmer" ("Steindl Room"), a restaurant that dates back to 1683. This area also includes two balconies with a view overlooking the courtyard.
